Combining Natural Supplements, is it a serious problem to my prescription dosage? 

In recent years, more and more people have turned to natural supplements like Ashwagandha, 5-HTP, Magnesium, and Vitamin D to manage their mental health, alleviate stress, and improve overall wellness. At the same time, the use of prescription medications like Zoloft (sertraline), Celexa (citalopram), Prozac (fluoxetine), and others remains a common approach for managing conditions such as anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders.

Many people are asking and are wondering about the different approaches to a better mental health lifestyle.  Does that mean we only take the prescriptions that are given to us by our mental health providers and call it a day.  Or is there a more all natural approach to get away from those side effects that come with prescription meds. 

But another question can also be asked, can we lower our prescription dosage and combining natural supplements and what would be the outcome.  If so, what are the potential benefits or risks? In this blog, we’ll explore both sides of this equation to help you make informed decisions about how to manage your mental health.

2. 5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan)

Since serotonin levels are thought to play a role in depression and anxiety, 5-HTP is commonly used as a natural supplement to improve mood and reduce symptoms of these conditions.

3. Magnesium

Also, remember that the pharmaceutical industry is a multi-billion dollar industry and these companies rely on hospitals and clinics to give prescribe their products to patients.  So be mindful on how you also approach you primary care on taking alternate routes away from prescription.  Like myself, I am not a big fan of prescription medications, and as a person on low dosage of Sertraline (Zoloft), about 50mg, I also take 5-HTP, Magnesium, Vitamin D and with combining natural supplements, I have seen a change in mental and focal abilities to not just rely on a prescription and have completely waded away from Zoloft.
